Quantum Foods started in 2011 as a father-and-son partnership between Stuart and Julian Sweedler.

Stuart has more than 30 years of industry experience working with seafood. He started out sourcing, processing and selling fish to restaurants up and down the California coast, running catch from the deep pelagic waters of the Central Coast down to San Diego, then loading fresh warm-water seafood from Baja California for the trip back north. Over the decades that followed, he built deep experience in importing, distribution, processing and co-packing.

Julian joined his father right after graduating from UCSB, and the two hit the ground running. They started by developing meat and seafood products for retail grocery, creating more than 200 items, some of which are still on shelves 15 years later.

While working through the long sales cycles of retail, they began selling directly to restaurants and hotels in Los Angeles, and through a distributor in Honolulu. Over time as they grew their business, they shifted their full focus to the faster-paced and far more exciting foodservice side of the business. As the years went on, Quantum and their distribution partner each took on new ventures, and Quantum transitioned to own and operate their own warehouse and delivery fleet in Oahu, giving more supply chain control.

Today Quantum Foods supplies 800+ items to hundreds of restaurants, hotels and caterers from their Los Angeles and Honolulu distribution centers. Quantum Foods has grown over the years, but still operates like a family business. Stuart and Julian work hand in hand with their clients, and when you call, you reach someone who knows your menu and how your kitchen runs. Their team includes former chefs and foodservice professionals who understand what a busy kitchen needs. It's a hard-working, family-style crew that always goes the extra mile for its customers.

Off the clock, you'll usually find Stuart and Julian out hiking Manoa or down at Bellows Beach on the weekends.
